FAQs
Upper cervical chiropractic is a specialized form of chiropractic care that focuses on the top two vertebrae of the upper neck.
The first cervical vertebra, known as the atlas, and the second cervical vertebra, known as the axis, play an important role in protecting a vital organ that sits at the base of the skull known as the brainstem. The brainstem is responsible for regulating functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and more.
Chiropractic adjustments are precise corrections made to the spine to improve alignment and restore proper nervous system function.
When a vertebra becomes misaligned, it can interfere with communication between the brain and the body. Adjustments are designed to correct these misalignments using a specific and controlled force.
By restoring proper alignment, adjustments help reduce interference in the nervous system, allowing the body to function at its best and heal naturally.
No, most patients find upper cervical adjustments to be very gentle and noninvasive. Because the approach we use is highly specific, performed by hand without any twisting or yanking, and low force, many people feel little to no discomfort during their adjustment.
Visits in our office are quick and easy, typically lasting about 15-30 minutes.
Each visit includes a brief check-in to see how your body is responding, followed by an adjustment if needed and a post thermograpy-scan to track your progress. In some cases, especially with upper cervical care, we may have you rest briefly after the adjustment to allow your body to restabilize and fully integrate the adjustment.
Yes, chiropractic care is both safe and effective. In our office, we don’t take shortcuts when it comes to your spine, and we believe clinical decisions should be based on clear, objective information rather than assumptions.
We use 3D CBCT imaging to obtain a detailed, three-dimensional view of the upper cervical spine. This technology, along with thermography, helps us assess spinal structure and nervous system function, identify misalignments, and objectively track your progress throughout care. This allows us to provide precise, specific care tailored to each patient.
Your first visit with us is about 45–60 minutes and includes a sit-down consultation with Dr. Hoff, a case history, a physical exam (including range of motion, gait, and postural analysis), thermography scans, and 3D CBCT imaging.
We offer complimentary consultations where you can sit down with Dr. Hoff, ask questions, and understand your options. Contact us today or visit our website to schedule yours!
